Doing more than one thing at a time produces fear, adrenaline and anxiety in the human system. The mind entertains one thought at a time, and only one. The greatest source of stress in the workplace is the mind’s attempt to carry many thoughts, many tasks, many future scenarios, many cares, many worries, many concerns at once. The mind can’t do that. No mind can, not even Einstein mind could. Success requires focusing on one thing, and only one thing.

Mark Twain said “The secret of getting ahead is getting started. The secret of getting started is breaking your complex, overwhelming tasks into small manageable tasks, and then starting on the first one. Every big step or aspiration must start with a small single step. Keep researching and asking until you can create a realistic action plan that will get you from where you are to where you want to go.

Always do the first thing first. In his book, Eat That Frog! 21 Great Ways To Stop Procrastinating And Get More Done In Less Time. Brian Tracy reveals not just how to conquer procrastination but also how to prioritize and complete all your action items. In his unique system, Brian advises goal-setters to identify the one to five things you must do first – in essence, eat that frog first – and by so doing, make the rest of your day much, much easier.

Plan your day the night before. Planning ahead and spending a few minutes visualizing exactly how you want the day to go – help your subconscious mind to work on these tasks all night long. It will think of creative way to solve any problem, overcome any obstacle, and achieve your desired outcomes.
